Global Food Supply is a growing problem.
Currently there is a dramatic food shortage that has caused problems around the world. This is due to a variety of reasons those being natural and man made. What do you believe needs to be done to stop this problem, do you think it can be stopped and that we can still live the same life in relation to agriculture as we have always done, are we beingtoo selfish and need to cut back on our consumption, do we worry too much about cost and should pay more so that more changes in agricultural production can be investigated? How is the food shortage effecting your budget or is it having no effect?

Biofuels.
With rising oil prices and more and more evidence that we are reaching peak oil, is it time for governments to take a serious look at biofuels. If so how are we going to produce enough crops to meet the demands if at the moment we are already not producing enough food to feed all the people. Is the production of biofuels increasing the cost of food? Do you believe that peak oil is being reached or do you believe we have enough oil but due to political problems are unable to reach it?

Hydroponic high rise plant houses
As seen in the previous two sections of articles on biofuels and the reduction in the global food supply there seems to be more and more evidence that we need to change the way that we produce crops. In respect to this I have a suggestion of how we can produce more crops to both feed and produce biofuels without using up more land. I also with this proposition believe that we can actually give back land to plant native trees of the region on again, thus giving us back more oxygen and helping to offset our carbon emmissions.
This idea is hydroponic high rise plant houses. My belief is that we need to combine the technology of high rise building with the technology of hydroponics. I can envisage the ability to put 40 acres of crops into a 45 story building with 3 story basement that only takes up 1 acre of land space. The other 39 acres of land saved could be replanted with native forestation. We are able to build 100 story buildings with a base covering over an acre and we are able to furnish these building with heavy equipment including swimming pools. If we can do that I cannot see why it would be difficult to build these hydroponic high rise plant houses.
Do you think this would be possible? What sort of problems do you envisage? Are you an hydroponic expert or an engineer and what is your opinion?
